More than 59,000 of 200,000 backlog passports have been cleared – Interior Minister..

“As of this morning, I am pleased to report that we have successfully cleared a substantial portion of the passport backlog, specifically 59,906 applications. This achievement marks significant progress since I issued the 2-week ultimatum on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. At that time, we were faced with an overwhelming backlog of over 200,000 passport applications.

Our commitment to addressing this issue remains unwavering, and we are resolute in our determination to ensure that every single backlog is eliminated. This is a testament to our dedication to providing efficient and timely passport services to our citizens.

We recognize the inconvenience and frustration that the backlog has caused individuals seeking passports, and we are actively working to streamline our processes and enhance our capacity to meet the growing demand for passport services.

Our ongoing efforts reflect our commitment to serving the needs of our citizens and facilitating their travel plans. We are confident that, with continued diligence and cooperation, we will achieve our goal of completely clearing the passport backlog and providing smoother passport application experiences for all.”
