Kano governorship election results was ruled by the tribunal to have Nasir Gawuna of the APC won.

Abba Kabir Yusuf’s removal as governor of Kano state in northwest Nigeria has been ordered by the Kano state governorship election petition tribunal.

On Wednesday, the Elections Tribunal for Kano state delivered its ruling, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to revoke the certificate of return it had issued to Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and hand it over to Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nasiru Gawuna of the APC and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are contesting the win of Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP as governor in the elections scheduled for March 18, 2023.

A three-person tribunal led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay has determined that 165,663 of the total votes cast for Yusuf are invalid.

Additionally, they claim that ballots that were not stamped or signed prior to voting were illegitimate. As a result, they deduct 165,663 votes from the NNPP candidate.

Before the final day of judgment, the ruling party in Kano, the Kwankwasiyya movement, as well as the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), have each started their own distinct series of prayers asking God to grant them a favor.

After both sides have discussed allegations and denials of attempts by some pipo to obstruct the judgment, the prayer sessions follow.

One of the judges of the tribunal, Justice Flora Azinge, also expressed concern about a bribery attempt in which someone offered N10 million to a member of her staff.

Within the 180 days allotted for the judgment to take place, Justice Osadebay has already committed to acting justly and fairly toward all parties in accordance with the law.

The tribunal’s decision was made six months after Yusuf, the APC candidate, had to concede defeat.

According to one recording that was released for March by Gawuna bin, “as a good Muslim,” I have no choice but to accept the results of the election, whether they are favorable to me or not.

Even though his supporters advise him to go to court, the APC governorship candidate suggests that he will not contest the election’s results.
