Abubakar Atiku, former vice president of Nigeria, has taken the significant step of filing an appeal with the Supreme Court in an effort to challenge the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Court. In the notice of appeal, which comprises 35 grounds, Atiku asserts that the tribunal made a grave error and resulted in a miscarriage of justice in its findings and conclusions concerning his petition. His initial petition had challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s declaration of Tinubu as the President of Nigeria.
The appeal lodged with the apex court seeks the complete nullification of the findings and conclusions of the Tribunal. Atiku contends that these findings did not accurately reflect the essence of his petition, and thus, they must be set aside.
At the heart of Atiku’s appeal is the assertion that the tribunal committed a legal error by failing to invalidate the presidential election conducted on February 25, 2023.
