Plaza Collapse Leaves Two Dead and More Than 30 Hurt Director General of FCT Emergency Management Agency Dr Abbas confirmed the development by stating that 37 people had already been rescued at the scene of the collapsed structure.
A two-story plaza that was located at Lagos Street, Garki Village in the Garki District of the nation’s capital, Abuja, collapsed, leaving at least two people dead.

Late on Wednesday night, the structure gave way under a significant downpour.
37 individuals have been saved thus far, with two of them being deemed “fatally injured” by emergency personnel.
They claimed that because there was no instant access to an excavator and all rescue efforts were manual, they had been slow during the course of the previous night.
Director General of FCT Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Abbas Idriss, confirmed the development by stating that 37 people had already been rescued at the scene of the collapsed structure.
According to him, the injured were sent to different medical facilities in Abuja.”As of right now, 37 people have been rescued and transported to hospitals; there are apparently more people trapped. On the ground are a rescue squad and others. Due to the continuous rain, rescue efforts are progressing slowly. They are scrambling to obtain an excavator to dig people out of the wreckage, he continued.The DG praised the efforts of all parties who labored arduously manually to free trapped people, including community members.
He disclosed that the rescue effort is ongoing while they wait for equipment to improve the efforts.
