Arsenal In the Osimhen race, the Reds join Chelsea

According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Premier League powerhouse Liverpool has deployed scouts to study Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen of Napoli during the international window, joining the competition for his services.

Following an outstanding 2022–2023 season with the Italian team, Osimhen was linked to a summertime move away from Naples.

With 26 goals in 32 league games, the Nigerian international helped Napoli win their first Serie A championship in thirty-three years.

Osimhen has stayed with the Italian champions, but his future is still up in the air after the club’s TikTok account ridiculed him in a social media controversy.

Osimhen has been linked to teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain; it now seems that Liverpool is also interested in signing him.

The Sun, a British newspaper, claims that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp dispatched one of the team’s scouts to observe Osimhen playing for Nigeria.

Osimhen played 59 minutes in Friday’s 2-2 tie with Saudi Arabia, as observed by a Liverpool scout, before being substituted due to a hamstring injury.

It appears that Liverpool is compiling a list of prospective forward targets in anticipation of Mohamed Salah’s potential exit in 2024. Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Arabian club, made a £150 million proposal for the Egypt international during the summer transfer window.

Even though Liverpool was able to hang onto one of their most valuable assets, there is speculation that the Saudi Pro League will show more interest the next year.

If they choose to go after Osimhen, it might require a bid beyond £100 million to convince him to leave Napoli.

The Nigerian’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, but the Italian team is still hoping to extend it.
