Yemi Cardoso’s nomination to lead the CBN has been approved by the Senate.
Dr. Olayemi Cardoso’s nomination to lead the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been approved by the Senate during today’s plenary.
Cardoso was one of four candidates who underwent screening for the job of CBN Deputy Governor, which will oversee the operations of the top bank for the next five years.
The deputy governors are Dr. Bala M. Bello, Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, and Mr. Philip Ikeazor.

Recall that Cardoso resumed his duties as CBN governor last week in an acting capacity while he awaited the Senate’s review and anticipated approval.
The Senate has set Tuesday, October 3, 2023, as the day for it to consider two more Bola Tinubu’s nominations for cabinet positions.
The President appointed Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande to the positions of Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively, while the National Assembly was in recess.
