Three caught by police after doctor’s death

Three people have been detained in connection with the death of Dr. Vware Diaso at the General Hospital in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Police Command.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the command, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Saturday.

The suspects’ identities were not mentioned by Hundeyin, who stated that the police had started their investigation.

According to NAN, a doctor working at the General Hospital in Odan, Lagos, Vware Diaso, lost his life due to an elevator malfunction.

According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday night when the deceased, who resided on the building’s ninth level, wanted to see the dispatch rider who had brought her the meal she had previously ordered online.

The deceased, an Ilishan Remo, Ogun State resident and Babcock University alumna, was reportedly less than two weeks into her one-year required internship program at the hospital when tragedy struck.

According to reports, the late Diaso was killed when the hospital elevator fell from the 10th floor to the ground level.

Additionally, it was learned that the late doctor was sent to the hospital’s emergency room for treatment but passed away.

The reports also noted that the hospital management had ignored the elevator’s repeated malfunctions prior to the disaster without taking them seriously.

While expressing his condolences to the victim’s family, Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu has committed to conduct a thorough inquiry to determine the cause of the doctor’s passing.

NMA starts the investigation

In a related event, the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association said that it had started a thorough independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Dr. Diaso’s passing.

Several members of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Society of Engineers were chosen as investigators to look into the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s passing, according to Benjamin Oluwatosin, chairman of the NMA’s Lagos Chapter.

He explained that the purpose of this panel was to objectively investigate the issue without government support, adding that anyone found guilty would face the full force of the law.
