Election tribunal to declare judgment on presidential election Wednesday..
The Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal has scheduled the announcement of its verdict for Wednesday, September 6, 2023, regarding the petitions challenging the presidential election held on February 25. President Bola Tinubu, declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), faced challenges to his victory from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

Atiku’s petition called for the nullification of Tinubu’s victory, citing violations of the Nigerian constitution and the Electoral Act. Meanwhile, Peter Obi sought to be declared the winner of the election.
The tribunal had previously indicated that the judgment date would be communicated later after reserving its decision on August 1. However, on Monday, the Chief Registrar, Umar Bangari, Esq, confirmed that the five-member panel had agreed to announce the verdict on Wednesday. He emphasized that media access to the proceedings would be strictly by accreditation.
