The family of a woman killed in a Lagos apartment demands justice
The family of Foejiro Ojite, who was killed, has requested that police authorities see to it that her killers be prosecuted.
According to Metro, on July 27, 2023, Foejiro, 31, was assassinated in her apartment in Ketu’s Agiliti neighborhood of Lagos.
Her suspected attackers also allegedly set fire to the residence after slicing her throat.
She was found dead on the floor with a burned hand after neighbors were alerted by the building’s smoke and forced the door open.
The event was confirmed by the police in July, and they added that the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba detectives were looking into it. They also stated that the corpse had been taken away and deposited at the mortuary for an autopsy.

According to an autopsy report from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital dated August 31, 2023 that our correspondent was able to get, she passed away as the result of “sharp force trauma to the neck.”
Her father, Michael Eroh, criticized the state police leadership and said that the issue was not being handled as planned when he met with PUNCH Metro in September.
Additionally, Eroh said that three individuals who had been detained in relation to the murder of her daughter had been freed.
“We are not getting a clear direction from the police, and I am really worried,” the upset father stated. Her two phones were taken by the assassins. They took some cash out of the husband’s phone’s bank app. Two phone numbers had their airtime refilled.
“The police located the phone, found them, and detained three people; nevertheless, they were later released. I don’t have confidence in the police investigation. I need assistance from anyone who can help me bring those responsible for my daughter’s murder to justice.
Ojite Tesywhite, Foejiro’s spouse, concurred that the investigation’s methodology was subpar.
“They (the police) said they would use a tracker to get the suspect who transferred more than N500,000 from the account on the phone,” he said. To Panti was given the case.
“They assured me that they would find out who owned the account from which the funds were transferred. For that, I organized them financially. In order to ensure that the suspect would be apprehended when he went to withdraw money from the bank, they claimed to have installed a tracker on the account. That approach is terrible.
When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, pledged to learn more about the incident and come back to our correspondent.
In a talk with our correspondent, Hundeyin remarked, “I’ll research it and get back to you.” As at the time this report was submitted, he had not responded.
A top police official in the state command, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to comment on the subject, claimed that the suspects in the murder case could only be freed if they were found innocent.
“Our murder cases are numerous. In a murder investigation, a suspect can never be released. However, if it turns out that the individuals detained in connection with this case are innocent, they might be let go. We won’t release anyone who has been proven to be connected to the case, the top officer added.
