An ISWAP/Boko Haram logistical collaborator was captured in the North-East.

Yesterday, military authorities reported a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and oil theft in Nigeria. Troops of the Nigeria Armed Forces, operating in the North-East and the Niger Delta regions, achieved notable successes.

In the North-East, the troops arrested a notorious terrorist logistics collaborator with ties to a foreign arms network. The suspect was responsible for facilitating the infiltration of terrorist logistics collaborators into Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. He admitted to being a courier, delivering arms, ammunition, and other supplies to terrorists at their hideouts. Additionally, he confirmed links with a foreign arms network.

Several military operations were conducted in areas where Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Province (ISWAP) terrorists were active. These operations resulted in neutralizing terrorists, rescuing hostages, and arresting collaborators. Recovered items included weapons and ammunition.

In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe successfully destroyed 36 illegal refining sites. Furthermore, a high-profile gunrunner operating within the Onitsha axis of Anambra State was arrested. The gunrunner was a major supplier of arms and ammunition to a syndicate in Benue and Taraba States.

During these operations, several suspects involved in crude oil theft were arrested, and a significant quantity of stolen crude oil and other equipment used in illegal refining was confiscated.

In the South East, raids were conducted on camps and hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) gunmen. During these raids, one suspect was neutralized, and weapons, uniforms, and equipment were recovered.

Troops also carried out successful operations in the Onitsha Main Market, where another suspected gun runner was apprehended. A considerable number of weapons and machetes were seized in this operation.

Overall, the military continues to be vigilant and committed to eradicating terrorism, oil theft, and criminal activities in various regions of the country. These recent achievements demonstrate progress in maintaining peace, security, and stability in Nigeria.
