SSCE results : Over 61% of students passed, according to NECO 2023
The results of the 2023 Internal Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) have been issued by the National Examinations Council (NECO), with a record 61.60 percent of applicants receiving five or more credits, including English and Mathematics.
The examination council said that 52 Supervisors were nominated for blacklisting owing to inadequate monitoring, assisting, and abetting during the examinations, while 93 schools were discovered to be engaged in whole-school (mass) cheating.

While announcing the publication of the Exam results, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, made this disclosure.
Wushishi stated that the offending schools would be invited to the Council for debate, followed by the imposition of the proper sanctions.
Adding that 1,543 candidates with special needs also took the exams, he stated that 1,196,985 candidates, including 616,398 males and 580,587 females, sat for the exams.
According to Wushishi, there are 1,542 candidates with special needs. Of these, 913 candidates have hearing impairment, 162 candidates have vision impairment, 103 candidates have albinism, 61 candidates have autism, 149 candidates have low vision, and 154 candidates have adermatoglyphia, which means they lack fingerprints.
“737,308 or 61.60 percent of candidates passed with five credits or more, and 1,013,611 or 84.68 percent of candidates had five credits regardless of English and mathematics,” according to the results.
