Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has provided an explanation for the errors on his Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) transcript.
Dele Momodu, the flagbearer for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, used his X handle to share Atiku’s clarification.
The clarification, according to Momodu, who served as the PDP Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Strategic Communications, is in reaction to claims of forgery made against his principal by members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

In contrast to his other credentials, he stated that some APC members had questioned the name “Sadiq Abubakar” on Atiku’s WAEC certificate.
Momodu, however, said that Atiku received the inquiries and responded with an explanation for the inconsistency.

“The APC busybodies have been barraged me with forgery allegations against my Principal, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR (GCON). I immediately forwarded them to him, and here is his copious response,” he wrote. “Yes, I used Sadiq Abubakar to take my WAEC exams, and after I passed them, I went to swear an affidavit to prove that I was ATIKU Abubakar.
“I attended ABU under the name Atiku Abuakar and completed my exams under that name. The Federal Civil Service Commission conducted an interview with Atiku Abubakar, who was thereafter employed as Atiku Abubakar by the Customs Service. Where then is forgery? ATIU ABUBAKAR.
