In his address, President Tinubu highlighted key aspects of the cooperation sought with foreign partners. Direct investments in critical industries, expanding access to African ports for a broader array and greater volume of African exports, and substantial debt relief were all identified as crucial components of the desired collaboration.
Furthermore, President Tinubu reaffirmed the significance of democratic governance as the foremost guarantor of the sovereign will and well-being of the people. He unequivocally condemned military coups and any form of civilian political arrangement that perpetuates injustice. Regarding the situation in Niger, he mentioned ongoing negotiations with military leaders and his role as Chairman of ECOWAS in facilitating the re-establishment of democratic governance, addressing political and economic challenges, and countering violent extremists in the region.
President Tinubu acknowledged that the wave of change sweeping across parts of Africa is not an endorsement of coups but rather a demand for comprehensive solutions to longstanding issues. He reiterated the commitment to tackle climate change in Nigeria, emphasizing that African nations are determined to combat this global challenge on their terms.
