President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for the immediate settlement of insurance claims owed to the families of officers and soldiers who lost their lives while defending the nation.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, conveyed this announcement during the commencement of the Combined Second and Third Quarters COAS Conference held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja emphasized the paramount importance of the welfare of troops and their families, pledging to strengthen existing welfare initiatives to improve the well-being of both soldiers and their families, thus enabling them to remain focused on their duties.
He outlined various measures to enhance the welfare of military personnel, including the provision of suitable housing accommodations and the introduction of the ‘Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers Scheme,’ aimed at offering affordable and high-quality post-service housing solutions for soldiers.
Additionally, Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja assured that injured soldiers would receive top-notch medical care and that ongoing support would be extended to the widows and next-of-kin of fallen heroes.
Furthermore, Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for promptly instructing the settlement of pending insurance claims owed to the bereaved families. He also commended the President for providing strategic guidance to the Armed Forces.
