Police announce the detention of the NURTW President and others. On Thursday, the FCT Police Command announced that Tajudeen Baruwa, the national president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and over 20 other members had been detained for behavior that was considered to be a public disturbance and a breach of peace.

    The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the president and other detained individuals will face criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and other charges in court.

    According to information obtained, the FCT Command invited Tajudeen Baruwa, three national NURTW officers, and other individuals currently being held by the Abuja police for questioning on Tuesday and Wednesday before moving them to the former Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Guzape, which is now occupied by the Intelligence Response Team.

    Remember that on Tuesday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, confirmed the arrest of 23 male suspects and the recovery of weapons, including three rifles, following a fight that broke out between sections of the union at the Garki 2 area of its headquarters.

    According to reports, one individual was killed during the violent altercation, which caused the police to detain several union members.
