Pensioners beg Kaduna government to pay their rights
The Kaduna State College of Education Retirees Association has once more urged State Governor Uba Sani to make sure that their gratuities and pensions are paid on time.
The appeal was included in a statement that was jointly signed by the Association’s chairman and secretary, Bulus Kajang and Emmanuel Nkom, and distributed to journalists over the weekend in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area.

They also requested a meeting with the governor so they could discuss their situation with him and give remedies for the ongoing hardship they have been experiencing for more than seven years.
In July, we sent him a letter explaining how retirees received their benefits promptly and how, after putting in our most productive years of work, the unjustified delay in the payment of our entitlements had put us in a terrible situation.
Most of our members, who best fit the definition of vulnerable people, are unable to satisfy their fundamental necessities, such as paying their children’s school fees or their own energy bills. We thus urged that the government offer palliatives for them as well.
The organization requested the governor to authorize payment of the outstanding pensions, saying that even people with means of support were feeling the effects of the country’s severe economic position. They also said that retirees, who have no other resources, are most affected.
