Tight security in Jos as the tribunal announces its ruling.
In Jos, there are several security people present as the Governorship Election Tribunal for Plateau renders its decision.
Security forces were stationed in strategic spots, according to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who traveled around Jos.

Additionally, according to NAN, armed security personnel were stationed in particular at the State High Courts’ offices, where the judgment was delivered.
The state’s command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo, stated that the deployment of personnel was done to protect the security of people and their property.
“This is to make sure that the state’s current tranquillity is not disturbed in any way.
“We are not interested in politics; instead, we want to make sure that the state’s existing state of calm is maintained.

Therefore, he explained, “This deployment is not intended to intimidate anyone, but rather to make sure that no one abuses the law.”
According to NAN, lawyers and litigants started arriving at the tribunal site as early as 8 a.m.
According to NAN, Nentawe Yiltwatda, a candidate for governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC), submitted the petition that resulted to the decision.
