The suspect who was detained for injecting the late Afrobeat singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, is not a registered nurse, according to the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Lagos State Council.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Association, Lagos State Council made this information public.

According to Vanguard, the late singer’s father, Aloba, had expressed concern over how the Mohbad had been given an injection by a support nurse before his passing, which continues to be a source of debate.
According to what I’ve heard from individuals, the only possibility that comes to mind is possibly this auxiliary nurse who used to treat patients, which is a really horrible concept, Aloba added. I have no idea what level the woman is on.
“They claimed to have called her to administer an injection to the man, which is a very bad notion because the shot might have any length. He had wounds, although I’m not sure what sort they were.
In a statement, the Nurses Association offered its sympathies to the Aloba family while criticizing media accounts about the nurses’ injection, underlining the necessity for professionalism in reporting and carrying out the continuing investigation into Mohbad’s death.
“The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Lagos State Council, sends its sincere condolences to the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, and to his family and friends during this trying time. In light of his untimely demise, they are in our thoughts and prayers.

“We firmly urge the competent authorities to exhaust all available resources in their pursuit of justice for him and fully support the current investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
“We must emphasize the significance of professionalism in reporting and carrying out this investigation, though. NANNM is keenly interested in the situation and is closely monitoring it. Our early findings show that the person who was allegedly detained by the police for treating Mohbad is not a licensed nurse.
Part of the statement said, “We emphasize the critical need to verify the credentials and professional status of individuals prior to labeling them as healthcare professionals.”
“In Nigeria, one must successfully complete a demanding five-year Bachelor of Nursing Science degree at a university, followed by an additional year of internship, in order to be recognized as a nurse. An alternative is to enroll in a nursing program at a school or college that has been accredited and get registration and licensure from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
“We want to make it clear that neither Nigeria’s legal system nor its healthcare system recognize the phrase “auxiliary nurse.” A person is either a licensed nurse conducting tasks within their scope of practice or an unlicensed person.
“Furthermore, we urge the media and the investigative authorities to be careful and accurate in their reporting during this investigation. Any misrepresentation of nurses or the nursing profession will not be tolerated. We demand that all media outlets who falsely reported on the arrest of a nurse amend their articles right away,” it continued.
