Naira Marley and Sam Larry, in a legal action brought before the Federal High Court in Lagos, have included the police and the Lagos magistrate as defendants.

The magistrate had previously ordered the detention of Naira Marley and Sam Larry in police custody for 21 days regarding the death of 27-year-old Mohbad, who passed away in September.

Nonetheless, Olalekan Ojo (SAN), the legal representative for Naira Marley and Sam Larry, conveyed to Channels Television that both defendants are requesting the court to affirm that their continued detention at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command in Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, since October 4, 2023, constitutes a breach of their rights. They contend that the magistrate’s order only allowed for a 21-day detention, and that period has now expired. They are seeking a court order for their immediate release.
