The 262,803 WASSCE results withheld will be decided by WAEC The cases of malpractice and irregularities that surfaced during the administration of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations, WASSCE, will be decided today by the West African Examinations Council, or WAEC.

    Remember that in August when the WASSCE results were announced, the administration of the outgoing WAEC chief, Mr. Patrick Areghan, observed that a total of 263,803 results had been withheld due to malpractice and irregularities.

    In part, the statement read: “I welcome you to this press briefing to announce the release of the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for school candidates, 2023 in Nigeria on behalf of the Registrar to Council, the Management and Staff of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, Nigeria.

    262,803 of the 1,613,733 applicants who took the exam had their results withheld because of allegations of examination malpractice, according to the statement.

    A decision will be taken regarding the withheld results, WAEC stated in the early hours of Tuesday at the Council’s X account.
