Dr. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, unveiled this plan during her recent visit to Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, in Abuja.
“We are in the process of revamping this program, exploring innovative methods to expand its services to benefit more Nigerians,” she stated. “Given that malnutrition is a significant concern, we aim to focus on it and extend the program’s coverage to students from classes one to five. We will streamline and enhance the program’s efficiency, making it more comprehensive. This presents an opportunity for us to establish partnerships as well.”
Furthermore, the Minister suggested the idea of creating a dedicated military desk office within the humanitarian ministry to maintain ongoing communication and collaboration.
“We are considering the establishment of a dedicated military desk office within our ministry to ensure continuous communication,” she explained. “This way, as we develop our programs, we can correspond with you, and your desk officer can coordinate with us. You can also provide insights into areas where we can collaborate to ensure that students attending military schools can benefit from our initiatives.”
