Coach: Messi is unlikely to appear in any more MLS games this season
According to Dailymail, Lionel Messi is unlikely to play in any more MLS games for Inter Miami during the remainder of the 2023 campaign, according to head coach Tata Martino.
This decision is made in light of Inter Miami’s season-ending 1-0 home loss to Cincinnati earlier this month, which prevented them from making the playoffs.
Messi played just 35 minutes on the pitch that night, despite having to recuperate from an injury to be ready for that specific game. His first season in Major League Soccer ended in disappointment because he had missed the previous four games because of a muscle injury he had suffered during a 4-0 victory over Toronto, which included a loss to the Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup final.

Coach Martino of Miami has stated that, in order to minimize any possible hazards, club captain Messi is not expected to play in the two regular-season MLS matches that remain.
Messi is out of the DRV PNK Stadium game on Wednesday against Charlotte, particularly after playing and scoring twice for Argentina in their 2-0 victory over Peru on Tuesday. This Saturday, Miami’s season finale is set to take place in North Carolina against the same opponent.
As we are out of the playoffs and don’t want to take any chances, Martino stated, “We will evaluate not only Leo, but all players who are with their national teams when they return Thursday.”
Since Lionel Messi joined the squad, Miami’s season has been quite promising overall, despite their sadness at not making the playoffs. They went from finishing last in the MLS standings to being a postseason candidate, making it to the US Open Cup finals, and taking home the Leagues Cup in a matter of months.
