Tinubu removes the leaders of NCC, NIPOST, and NIGCOMSAT appoints replacements
The CEOs of three agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy were fired by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, effective immediately.

The CEOs that are impacted are Tukur Funtua of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, Sunday Adepoju of the Nigerian Postal Service, and Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
President Tinubu has appointed new leadership in the communications, innovation, and digital economy sectors, according to a statement released by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
He named the new CEOs as Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT; Tola Odeyemi, Postmaster General of NIPOST; and Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NCC.
Nonetheless, Dr. Vincent Olatunji and Kashifu Abdullahi were reappointed as National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, respectively.
Idris Alubankudi, a new Special Advisor on Technology and Digital Economy, was also appointed by Tinubu.
According to Ngelale, the goal of Alubankudi’s appointment is to “maximize Nigeria’s proven technological and digital economic prowess to reposition the nation’s economy toward greater financial inclusion.”
