According to DSP Bright Edafe, the official spokesperson for the police command, this development was made known on Wednesday in Warri. Edafe went on to explain that these five suspects were apprehended on a Saturday by police personnel assigned to the Kwale Division. The arrests followed a thorough and intelligence-led investigation.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kwale division, CSP Edwin Igoche, acted on complaints concerning the activities of these suspected vandals and subsequently instructed his team to pursue them. On August 5, 2023, the Divisional Crime Officer led a collaborative team of police and vigilant operatives to successfully capture the suspects: Michael Thankgod, Peter Onyoba, Prince Johnson, Ogochukwu Nwabochali, and Chinedu Ossai.
Among the items seized from the suspects were three sacks containing electric conductor cables, two iron steel cutters, and a measuring scale. The suspects themselves, as well as the confiscated items, are now in police custody as the investigation into the case continues.
In a separate incident, DSP Bright Edafe also reported another arrest involving a suspected criminal found in unlawful possession of firearms in the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta. This 27-year-old suspect, identified as Oghenetoja Douglas, was taken into custody by the police Anti-robbery patrol team attached to the Orerokpe Division.
During a routine stop-and-search operation along the Oha/Orerokpe Community Road, the police patrol team intercepted a commercial tricycle carrying five male passengers. Upon conducting a search, they discovered one locally made double barrel cut-to-size short gun accompanied by two live cartridges, as well as a sum of N148,000, all in the possession of Douglas.
