Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has given the green light for the construction of 1,000 houses in the displaced communities of Darajamal and Mayanti in Bama Local Government Area. During an on-site assessment in Bani, Zulum emphasized the need for swift infrastructure development, with the goal of completing the project within four months.

“To fulfill a policy statement I made about one year ago regarding the resettlement of some of our IDPs, particularly in Bama and Banki, we are here. These two locations in Borno have a significant number of IDPs. In this regard, we plan to build 500 houses each in Darajamal and Mayanti, constituting the first phase of the construction effort,” stated Governor Zulum.
He further detailed the government’s commitment to providing essential social infrastructure, including primary schools, health centers, and water facilities, alongside other fundamental community needs. The governor also announced resettlement packages, encompassing food, non-food items, and cash, to support the returnees’ livelihoods.
