Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the 2023 election, has called gasoline subsidies, Fuel subsidy an organized crime. This was expressed by Obi on Monday when discussing how he would have handled the impending strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on Arise TV’s “The Morning Show.”
“Fuel subsidies are part of organized crime. It should be taken down, I continually urged. My strategy would have been to eliminate the corruption, criminal element, and excessive demand.
“If you had done that, you would have cut it in half. After consulting with numerous stakeholders to identify a methodically organized strategy to remove the remaining 50%, we would have been able to demonstrate how the proceeds of the removal’s profits would be spent in important development sectors.
The former governor of Anambra State continued by expressing optimism for Nigeria’s future.
