This development has emerged just three days after the faction of the party, led by Major Agbo, expelled Kwankwaso, accusing him of engaging in anti-party activities and misappropriating campaign funds belonging to the party.
The objective behind the Kwankwaso camp’s move to amend the party’s logo and constitution is seen as an effort to reduce the influence of NNPP’s founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
Ladipo Johnson clarified, “No, it has nothing to do with any faction. It was something we already discussed at the NEC. Unlike them (Agbo faction), we are serious people. But we haven’t changed the logo yet. We are planning to present it to our members for a competitive process to generate new ideas.”
Major Agbo, the acting National Chairman of the faction opposing Kwankwaso, acknowledged their awareness of this subtle move, which they believe is aimed at diminishing the founder’s authority by potentially removing his immunity within the party.
