FIFA plans to hold the 2030 World Cup in six nations and three continents
FIFA, the governing organization of football in the globe, has announced that six nations on three continents will host the 2030 globe Cup.
The historic event will be held in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, but the opening three matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, according to FIFA via its website on Wednesday.
The forthcoming 48-team competition will mark the first of its type to be held on different continents. Additionally, all host nations will be automatically qualified.

FIFA hopes to have the first opening game played at Uruguay’s Estádio Centenário, the site of the game’s inaugural contest in 1930, in an effort to commemorate the 100th anniversary of international football. Uruguay, the tournament’s host nation, defeated Argentina 4-2 to claim the title.
“In 2030, the FIFA World Cup will unite three continents and six nations, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game, the Centenary, and the FIFA World Cup itself,” the statement says in part.
The FIFA Council unanimously decided that the only candidate would be the joint bid from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, which would automatically qualify from the available slot allocation and host the event in 2030, subject to the conclusion of a successful bidding process conducted by FIFA and a decision by the FIFA Congress in 2024.
In addition, taking into account the significance of the first-ever FIFA World Cup’s historical context, the FIFA Council unanimously decided to host three World Cup games in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, as well as a special centenary celebration ceremony in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, where the first-ever FIFA World Cup was held in 1930.
According to Punch Online, three North American nations—Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America—will host the 2026 World Cup.
